We will teach kids about the concept of land art, where natural materials are used to create temporary or permanent artworks in outdoor spaces. We are going to take them on nature walks to collect materials, and have them create their own land art installations.
Exploring the beauty of nature through botanical art, kids will learn the basic drawing and painting techniques to create realistic or stylized representations of flowers, leaves, and other natural objects. For this class we reccomond students to bring to class flowers or leaves or whatever they would like to draw we will of course have some extras as well.(simpler flowers would be easier for them to draw!)
We will discuss environmental issues with kids and encourage them to create art that raises awareness about the environment, such as recycled art, upcycled art, or art installations using natural materials. Students can feel free to bring things from home like plastic water bottles and other recyleing items(no food trash or food soiled trash/compost). We will have only limited to provide to you, so best to bring things from home.
We will Take kids on another outdoor trip to sketch and observe the natural world around them. Teaching them basic sketching techniques, such as perspective, composition, and shading, while they create their own plain air sketches.
