The kids will explore folk art traditions from different cultures, such as Chinese paper cutting, Indian rangoli, or Mexican papel picado. We encourage kids to create their own folk art-inspired pieces using traditional techniques and materials. Artists will also get a little background history and story before starting their art peice for this class.
A unique art style the art of indigenous Australian cultures, known for their unique dot painting techniques. Let them experiment with dot painting using acrylic paints or markers.(may need to purchase the acrylic painting kit from me or bring one from home!)
introducing kids to the art forms of Japan, such as origami, sumi-e (ink painting), or ukiyo-e (woodblock printing), we let them create their own Japanese-inspired art using traditional materials and techniques. We will also touch base with some of the history of this art so students wil be able to excel even more!
Explore the rich artistic traditions of African cultures, such as mask making, beadwork, or textile art. Have kids create their own African-inspired art using mixed media and traditional African motifs. In class we will make a mask, decorating it with feathers and glitter and kids can take it home to hang it up on the wall!
